JM VInyasa Hips!
FRIDAY, December 5: 5-7:30P
This sweaty and fun JM Vinyasa class will focus on standing postures and hip opening postures. This class begins with a dynamic and sweaty flow and then we hit the floor to explore depth in various hip openers. Certain postures on the floor will be held for longer to give students time to feel and let go if possible. Peak poses include leg behind head, yogi dandasana, vishvamitrasana, and lizard variations. Students do not need to put their legs behind their head to attend this class, modifications will be provided. We will finish the class with breathwork and meditation.
Alignment, Bandha, Drishti - Backbends Level 1
SATURDAY, december 6: 10-12:30p
In this workshop we will warm up with a backbendy vinyasa sequence to heat up the body and then focus on important foundational details for foundational backbending postures. Students will learn:
-how thigh bones are positioned in combination with posterior pelvic tilt
-proper engagement of the glutes
-how to position the pelvis in backbends
-how to utilize the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles to protect the lower back.
-correct drishti or focal point as to where the eyes are looking
This workshop will focus on cobra, bow, camel, half moon backbend, and wheel (or bridge) pose. This workshop is great for all levels and will help students better understand proper mechanics of backbending poses.
Alignment, Bandha, Drishti - Backbends level 2
SATURDAY, december 6: 4-6:30p
This workshop will warm up with a backbendy vinyasa sequence to heat up the body and then we will focus on the second layer of stability and subtlety in backbending postures. Students will learn:
-how and when to close the bottom ribs in backbending poses
-the relationship between the bottom ribs and the pelvis
-a more detailed understanding of Uddiyana Bandha (lower belly) to support backbends
-the importance of the tongue positioning to protect the neck
This workshop will cover Wheel and Wheel Variations, Full Cobra, Full Camel, Forearm scorpion. Jared will also teach various drills to help students work toward and achieve these intermediate poses.
JM VINYASA MASTER CLASS
SunDAY, december 7: 10-12p
This is Jared's classic Vinyasa class and personal yoga practice. It is a dynamic and well-rounded blend of postures from the Ashtanga and Bikram Yoga styles, sequenced to perfection. Postures are held for 5 - 10 breaths so that students have time to receive the benefits of the pose. The class begins with Forrest Inspired abdominal work to warm up the body and then flows through a sequence of standing postures. We finish the class on the floor exploring depth in our forward folds, backbends, twists, and hip openers. This class is for all levels of practitioner.
